Deivathin Kural Series - 18

Om Namah Sivaya
30 JUNE 2006
IN AND OUT
1. These e-mails are translations of what, the erswhile Pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Math, had spoken over more than sixty years and are available in the Tamil language, as Deivathin Kural, in ten Volumes, published by Vanathi Padippagam, T.Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu in India. The english version are likely to be available, some time in the near future. These e-mails are an effort on the part of the sender, to share his readings. In the last para of the previous mail, Periyaval talks about, world-movements, being seen by the man in ignorance and not being seen by the Gnani. World-movements, is a word to be given attention to. We could call it vibrations. Every event is a movement. So is every thing, every iota of existance. There is a debate still going on in Physics, as to whether ultimately, matter is made up of particles or waves !?
2. This e-mail, is the chapter, 'agamum puramum', on page 62 of the first volume.
3. Everybody in this world are all the time, endlessly running from ' piller to post ', for what ? To fulfill the desires. His or her love is towards things outside the self. But satisfaction never comes when the desired thing is achieved. Desire is immediately directed towards something else. The process of running after the desired object, continues. Satisfaction or Shanthi is never attained. How can anyone attain happiness, till the search is directed out ? What is outside is not in our control. It may be achievable or may not be. There is no certainity, that once having come under your control, it will remain so. What comes can also go. As You think that it has arrived, it may be on the way out. To look for permanent happiness in things outside is really asking for trouble. It is an effort to spoil the existing peace of mind. Why does one search for happiness ? It is because of the fact that, we are inwardly, ' ananda swaroopa '. Some where inside we know this fact. We remember. But we have forgotten. So we are searching. So we are re-searching. So we are re-creating. See how the meaning of the words have evolved. Because of Maya, Man has forgotten his reality, that he is, ' Ananda Swaroopa '. ( Note:- Swaroopa means self-form; Swabhava means self-nature.) Somehow, the memory of oneself, that one is Happiness Personified, drives human beings to attain happiness. Is there any one who goes after sadness, instead of happiness ? Instead of realizing that the Happiness one is looking for, is inside, we search for it everywhere else, like a cat running after it's own tail, and never be able to catch it. Where as if only, we resort to meditation in to one's own Self, with God's blessings, we should be able to see that we ourself is the object of the search. When a Oceon of happiness is inside, we run after for drops of it out side. Once this point is understood, we will not run after happiness anymore. We will remain like the 'Ananda Sagara', that we are, wherin all the rivers of happiness, pour in. As Gita says, ' apooryamanam achala prathishtam samudram ', We will be totally filled satisfied. Even the highest position and power, (like that of the Lord of the Gods Devendra,) cannot match this sense of satisfaction, but only prove to be a fraction of this Atma Shanti, says Adi Sankara, in Manisha Panchakam.
4. Position, power, money, people, publicity and so on, the list goes on. How will it be, if an oceon is thirsting for a drop of water ?! It is wrong to feel bad like this. We have no deficiency. We need nothing. We are complete within. There is nothing outside. The out is in. Let anything come. Like the oceon includes the in-coming river, in it self, we will accept. All the happiness is already here. Does not matter if there is no in-put. Let us be with the clarity that, after all, whatever is outside, is a different form of the indwelling Paramatma.
Sambhomahadeva.
