Deivathin Kural Series - 121

Om Namah Sivaya.
Deivathin Kural # 121 of 22 Dec 2006.
1. To-day's title is 'Sambu Sankarar Aanar', that is, 'Lord Siva Became Sankara', occuring in pages 539 to 546, in Volume 1 of Deivathin Kural, Tamil version, published by Vanady Padippagam, Chennai.
2. 'Yoga' is joining. When the Jeeva rejoins Paramatma, without any idea of difference, it is Yoga. To do ones duties, without any attachment to the name and fame is 'Nish Kamya Karma'. Thus we get our minds cleansed. Then, through devotional ceremonies, we get our mind focussed uni-directionally God wise. The mind is thus rendered null and void. God's grace is synchronous. No more differentiation or difference of opinion or dispute or seperateness. This is the purpose of Vedas. This is the 'Yoga', taught by Sri Krishna to Arjuna, in Bhagavat Geeta.
3. "This tradition of Yoga, became weakened. I came in to this world as a Man, to re-establish this tradition of Yoga", says Sri Krishna. Parameswara and Krishna are not different persons! They are one and the same. In Geeta, while showing His 'Vishwa Roopa', that is, 'Universal Form', to Arjuna, He says, " See my Easwara Roopa", that is 'pasya me yogam aiswaram' are the exact words in Sanskrit! He showed the Rudra Roopa, that will be assumed at total destruction and re-absorption of all the worlds, at the end of Kali-Yuga!
4. Sri Krishna, who is thus the same as Easwara, is also called, 'Jagat Guru'. You may have heard the sloka which goes, "Krishnam vande jagat gurum." Jagat Guru Sri Krishna says, "Once upon a time, I instructed Surya, that is the Sun. Now I have come to give You the Upadesa, as Krishna. Whenever morality deteriorates, I will keep coming back, to re-establish Dharma."
5. Sri Krishna Avatara, occurred at the end of Dwapara Yuga. Kali Yuga started after that. Once again the system of Yoga suffered a set back. There was a proliferation of all sorts of non-Vaidik Religions of various denominations numbering 72. Whenever unworthy ideas mushroom, they come with much fanfare and disappear without a whimper! The deterioration of Dharma that occurred in Dwapara Yuga, was not much intense. So, Sri Krishna did 'Gnana Upadesa', while being busy otherwise. In Gokulam, He played with the Gopalas and Gopis. He managed the affairs of the kingdom, in Dwaraka. He went as the good-will ambassador for Pandavas. His job as a Guru was rather limited to, 'Uddava Geeta and Bhagawat Geeta'.
6. But in Kali Yuga, He decided to devote an entire life-time, for sorting out the immoralities and abnormalities of these 72 movements, in the garb of Religions! So Sadasiva, who is the Lord of all Vidya, (that is Education, Knowledge, Learning, Arts, Crafts and Science), came down to this world, out of His infinite compassion, ie., 'Avatara', of Sri Adi Sankara Bhagawat Paada. Adi Sankara is the same as Siva and or Krishna Paramatma! More about this in the next message.
7. (KTSV adds:-Kali Yuga lasts for 432,000 years, Dwapara Yuga is double that of Kali. Treta Yuga is three times and Krita Yuga is four times. So a Maha Yuga extends to 4,320,000 years. 71 Maha Yugas with an additional Sandhya is one Manvantara. 14 such Manvantaras with another Sandhya is a Kalpa. Two Kalpas make a day and night of Brhma, that is, 8,640,000,000 years. Multiply this figure, by 360 for one year of Brhma and 100 such Years, gives us:- 311,040,,000,000,000 Years!!! I hope this gives some idea of the cosmic time frame! (To be continued)
